This song, like many of the songs from Middle Aegis, took a long time to gestate. It started sometime in 2005 or 2006. I was trying to channel a little of that Smashing Pumpkins vibe from the mid-90s. "Side streets in the alley bosom" just sounds very Billy Corgan to me. I had the first verse for a few years before I ever really sat down to put together the second one. I think part of why I hadn't is because I liked the first verse so much I was a bit intimidated to try and write a second one. I think, in the end, it worked.
The above-referenced album - and in particular the collection of songs from this EP - were really about a dark time in my life creatively where I was trying to do all the soul searching I could... a bit of a melancholy trip through things I'd lost and things I was hoping to gain that weren't quite coming around like I would have liked.
